About Sun Prairie Pitch and Hit
After seeing many youth baseball players struggle on the mound, I recognized a great opportunity to help these young players develop the proper techniques required to become a successful pitcher.
One on one instruction to youth baseball pitchers along with batting instruction is now offered at the Sun Prairie Pitch and Hit facility located at 1620 North Bristol Street, Sun Prairie WI 53590 (www.sunprairiebaseball.com).
I believe that “Pitching is not just throwing the ball.” It involves development of proper mechanics, conditioning, mind set along with a healthy diet. These one-on-one sessions are designed to provide focused instruction for the individual players. Pitch counts are closely monitored to ensure the ballplayers maintain a healthy arm .
I have worked very closely with Tom Eckhardt, fellow Sheboygan A’s teammate who has authored a valuable book outlining what is needed to become a successful pitcher. This book will be used during my one on one instruction .
Tom had a very successful career at Augustana College being named most valuable pitcher three times and all conference twice and then a year with the Atlanta Braves organization .
Tom pitched for the Sheboygan A’s 11 seasons being named most valuable pitcher six times. In 2002 he was inducted into the hall of fame and currently holds many pitching records.
Tom is currently the pitching coach at Appleton West High School.
Meet Your Coach

Tom Forsterling
After graduating from Sheboygan North High School, I accepted a full scholarship from UW Parkside and quickly worked my way into the team’s starting rotation. After my first successful D2 college season I transferred to Nationally ranked Mesa College in Arizona.
After my time at Mesa College, I returned to Wisconsin and joined the Sheboygan A’s, a semi professional baseball team (members of the Wisconsin State League.) The A’s have helped develop more than 43 players reaching professional baseball status including 2002 world series champion Jarrod Washburn.
Playing for the A’s seven seasons I was named the club’s most valuable pitcher twice and led the club in wins three times. I also led the A’s in appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts twice and ERA once. In 2018 I was inducted into the A’s Hall of Fame joining my late brother Fred sharing our passion for baseball which started with my father Roger who played for the Sheboygan Indians (Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate.)
I am one of three pitchers in the clubs 55-year history to have over 100+ strikeouts in two seasons (101 and 110)
Tom Eckhardt (Atlanta Braves-A) had three seasons along with Mike Casper (Kansas City Royals- A) who had four seasons with 100+.
During the seven years with the A’s I have listed my all-time club numbers which has helped create my pathway to the Hall of Fame in 2018. Highlights listed below at retirement:
3 shutouts – 2nd all time
27 completed games – 2nd all time
373 strike outs – 3rd all time
101 appearances – 3rd all time
59 starts – 3rd all time
483 innings pitched – 3rd all time
31 wins – 3rd all time
16 strike outs – one game (club record)
Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident ended my pitching career.
